I would place it in an external case and attempt to resurrect it. If
that failed, place it on an internal bus with another drive as the
boot disc and see if that offers any advantages. You can also put it
into a FireWire-equipped Mac, boot that Mac to FireWire Target Disc
Mode (holding down "T" key upon a restart), and use a 2nd Mac
connected via FireWire cable as the re-formatting controller. If not,
the drive is probably dead and needs to be replaced.
