I believe we all agree Carl. There are many here involved with the other
groups as well and it is in our interest not to conflict. Obviously as
that list of other groups grows we're seeing a increased difficulty in
avoiding conflicts. As we can all atest to as well, we can't please

The Iowa .NET User Group was meeting at Grandview College, but recently moved to the DMACC west campus. They have a nice auditorium with overhead projection for laptops. I think it seats around 200 or more. DMACC said it was extremely interested in promoting the group because of the technology connection. They want to start teaching more types of technology. I know it is difficult to find PHP and MySQL training and I also know those two technologies are extremely popular. It might be a good fit for the CIAPUG (and I wouldn't have to worry about scheduling conflicts).
I don't know if we want to start out with something that ambitious, so it's just a thought. The Agile group was meeting at the Okaboji Grill (maybe they still are, I haven't been to a meeting yet).

Depends.
If I'm using PHP as a templating language, then my code is procedural.
However, on bigger project where long-term maintainability is
necessary, then I end up writing some classes for logic and
processing. These get automatically prepended and then procedural code
or smarty is used to display the data.
