I set out last weekend to look into ZooP It kind of mixes Pear and 
Smarty. I had spent most of the time that I was working with it 
installing Pear packages on the system. When you download it, you have 2 
packages to download. The first is the ZooP framework itself, the next 
is the "skeleton app" which the base of what you would build your site 
off of.

The install says to install these
pear install DB
pear install --force VFS
pear install --force Log
pear install --force Validate
pear install --force XML_Util
pear install --force XML_Parser
pear install --force XML_Serializer
pear install --force Mail

But I also had to install XML_RPC and a few others to get it working.
This was not in the documentation.

I ran a couple of the simple tutorials and they worked ok. They 
pre-built gui control tutorial however did not work. I keep getting and 
error in guicontrol/guicontrol_component.php I'm probably overlooking 
something in the tutorial?

In some ways I can see that it would be good to know how to use these 
frameworks. But the end-game of it  doesn't seem to clear to me right 
now?  The end-game being  speeding up production, and extensibility of 
the app.
