Last night I mentioned a security tool that scans your website or
server for potential vulnerabilities. It checks for out of date or
known exploitable software. Good and bad guys use it to find servers
with problems.

It's called Nessus and is at http://www.nessus.org/. A few years ago,
it was GPL, but they got mad and made it non-open source. Its free to
use, just not oss.

Last I used it, it was very comprehensive. Most of the web application
testing was performed by plugins.
