It looks like a tutorial to do what you want. I've not tested it myself;
it was the first hit on Google when searching for "tomcat php".
If it doesn't work, it should be possible to run Apache with PHP as a
front-end server but proxy requests for certain directories to Tomcat
which would be running locally on a different port.
