I'm running my PHP code and MySQL on the same server, so I'm not sure that I
care if my PHP code or my stored procedures are using more or less CPU
power, since they are both on the same machine.

The stored procedure version was using more CPU power on the server, while
the dynamic query was using more CPU power on the client.
