I use Rackspace Cloud Servers. They are less expensive than EC2 and have persistent storage locally (they are just xen slices).<br><br>I really do like EC2 - the only reason I don't currently use them is I only run a single server and liked the simple management of the RCS. Automated backups, etc.<br>

Rapidxen looks pretty appealing too, but for the $7.49 hosting @ 5GB disk space, is that for the OS & site?!  I'd have to look @ my VM config for my dev sites, but I'm pretty sure I give more HD space than that.  What would you configure for an OS that would still give you enough space to host a site?<div>


<div></div><div><br></div></div></blockquote><div><br></div></div><div>Yeah, with Xen (assuming the xen in rapidxen means they use xen) the 128MB of RAM would be the OS plus applications. That's enough to run a shell account, an IRC bot, a light mail or DNS server, a mostly static (minimal php) website or two. Fortunately they do allow swap so you could have some fun with that. I'd probably limit Apache to a max children of 10 or so.</div>
