<div>In 2009, when I was laid-off, I went to Billie Sucher. Her office is in Urbandale, next door to the Bucs' ice rink. I had a couple of sessions with her on career planning. I didn't have her do any writing for me. Pricey ($100 per hour) but I feel that she gave me her full attention and excellent advice.</div>

<div>Sometime in 2005, when I lived in Iowa City, I used a resume writer, Elizabeth Axnix. I can't find a website for her or her services. I hired her to write a resume and cover letter. Again, pricey ($280) but interesting. I did not send out the resume or cover letter but used each as an idea source for my own writing. </div>

There are plenty of people who do this kind of thing. They are called copywriters, and they work for most creative agencies. Even though most work on products/services, a lot of them do work for celebrities and executives. A consultant wouldn't be much of a stretch for them.<br>

I also have a template resume that I use as a starting point, and then customize the resume for the job description. The reason I was looking for someone to write "a" cover letter, was because I was looking to apply for "a" open position. I am willing to pay a person to write "a" quality cover letter for each and every specific job opening for which I am applying. But, if I'm going to pay someone, it needs to be a superbly high quality cover letter, and I have yet to find anybody in the Des Moines area who offers, and delivers that.
