The place we put our tapes off site is a bank safe deposit box, and I don't think a NAS box would fit. Also, we want to move the backup up data off site daily, so a weekly rotation wouldn't work either.<br><br>Dava H - I don't think I'll use USB, I'm looking at SATA or eSATA interface.<br>
<br>As for planning for hard drive failure, I'm ordering a couple spare drives just for that purpose. I AM concerned about the ruggedness and longevity of a hard drive moving it around so much, which is one of the reasons I'm asking this group. <br>

</div>Suggestion - use rsnapshot instead. It will keep versions, and can easily<br>
be configured to run with root privledges (using command restriction for<br>
that key).<br>
