QuickMail eh? That brings back memories. I used to work for the creator of QuickMail (CE Software) back in the 80's and 90's. Didn't know they had it at Drake though, but it doesn't surprise me. Drake became an Apple University Consortium school the year after I graduated (which was '84) as I recall.

I left a job at Pioneer Hi-Bred....programming on VAX/VMS boxen in fact....to work for CE.

I did both tech support and programming for CE. Got some cool QuickMail support calls, including one from the Battleship Missouri! The head of CE actually got to visit the ship when it was in port, after that. They used their QuicKeys keyboard macro program on the Space Shuttle too (didn't get a call from the Shuttle....)

CE's still around, sort of (as Startly Technologies and also as Prairie Group, but not CE) but they sold off QuickMail some time ago, to Outspring.

Bill Davis
5214 Meredith Dr.
Des Moines, IA 50310-2956 USA
You probably do remember when they put it in. Summer of 1997 students
came back to Drake with ethernet in the dorms and brand new POP mail
(didn't you help install the ethernet?). I think that ES40 server was
installed at that time to replace the previous QuickMail that employees
used and the console-based PMDF mail that students had on acad.drake.
So... the machine is 12 years old. It has been out of service for a bit
more than 1 year. For 11 years it single-handedly processed all the
mail for ~15000 POP/IMAP accounts. Now it is time for it to go. <sniff>
