Oh dont worry about the loaner box, but thanks a lot for the offer Jeff. A while back i had a dell but decided to build my own, so i have one. I was just wondering if it would be too old. I'll try and load it on the box tomorrow.
I am in Cedar Falls, and might be able to scrape together a loaner box...
Might be a little on the loud side, though.

That's odd that it works for a while, then stops... have you tried unplugging the mouse & plugging it back in?

If you ask around here, someone may have some older hardware they'd be willing to part with. :)
p.s. (off topic pedantic being a jerk etc) "Infact" is 2 words... "in fact". I've seen that one used a lot lately... :p
Linux can run on slow, older hardware. Infact the support is often better on older, cheaper hardware than cutting edge stuff.
i did the install through the live cd, and through the windows wubi installer. both times the mouse didnt work, i tried two different usb port mice, both of which work for about 10-15 minutes on ubuntu then become obsolete. Also, the mouse and the keyboard are independent of one another. And all those who said that i should get another computer off of craigs list just for linux os, i am not familiar with the system specs for linux, so would it need to be a fairly new system or could it stand to be a few years old?
