[Cialug] Virtualbox

I installed from a file downloaded from virtualbox.org and thought as you stated that it would take care of it but I cannot start VM from within virtualbox.

Tom,

are you installing it from the ubuntu .deb from virtualbox.org?  If so
it'll resolve the dependencies for you.
