[Cialug] Newer LKM compiles?

Anyone have a pointer to a fairly complete howto for 2.6+ kernel module compilation?  I'm not getting .ko output for a 2.6.22.17-0.1 kernel (SuSE 10.3), and haven't yet found clear instructions for using modpost.
