[Cialug] another phone

There are times when cell phones do come in very handy. I was out
trimming a fence line and as I threw a branch onto the pile a twig
snapped me in the face and sent my glasses flying. I searched in the
foot tall grass for them for 45 minutes, with my nose 8" - 12" from the
ground (I can't read a printed page beyond 8" without my glasses),
before I gave up and called my wife to come out and help me look for
them. She finally found them for me after she and my daughter searched
for an additional 45 minutes.

Like with email, there's a rhythm you can adopt that will let you keep
your insanity. In other words, don't always answer the phone, and
don't always call back right away. And get text messaging. People
can text me if they have some small bit of information for me but
don't have to actually talk to me. That cuts down on phone calls.

And in fact, I turn the phone off sometimes. People get the hint.
