Has anyone looked at VirtualBox (http://www.virtualbox.org/)? I recently
installed it on my Linux machine at home. It appears very similar to
VMWare's desktop product, though it has not been around for quite as
many years. The thing i most like is that it is open source. There is
also a commercial version with a couple extra features. The commercial
version is free-as-in-beer for personal use, testing, and academia,
though costs money for companies.
